NightBlab Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-10-16. Applies to NightBlab for iPhone and for Android. Publisher: Buckshot Digital Sales Inc.

NightBlab is built so that we never see your data. This policy is short because there is almost nothing to disclose.

What we collect

Nothing. NightBlab has no account, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking. We do not run any server that receives your recordings, transcripts, dreams or usage. Recording, sound classification and transcription do not use the network at all, and they work in airplane mode.

On Android, purchases are handled by the Google Play Billing library, which connects to Google Play and may send Google diagnostic information about the purchase flow (for example crash and performance data). NightBlab does not receive this information, and it never includes your recordings, transcripts or dreams. Google's privacy policy applies to it.

Where your data lives

Your audio clips, transcripts, dream entries and settings are stored only on your device. They leave your device only when you choose to share or export them, for example with the share sheet. Deleting the app, or using "Delete everything" in Settings, removes them.

Microphone

NightBlab needs microphone access to listen while you sleep. When you start a night, it analyzes sound on your device and saves short clips of talking, laughing and other moments. It does not save the whole night. While a night is running, NightBlab shows that it is listening (a Live Activity on iPhone, an ongoing notification with a Stop button on Android), and you can stop at any time. The microphone is used only from the moment you tap Start Night until you stop the night. Dream voice notes use the microphone the same way and stay on your device.

Who's talking (optional)

If you choose to teach NightBlab your voice, it records a 20 second sample, turns it into a voice fingerprint (a short list of numbers describing pitch and tone) and deletes the sample. The fingerprint is stored only on your device and is used only to tag clips as You or Someone else. "Delete everything" in Settings, or deleting the app, removes it.

Speech recognition

On iPhone, NightBlab asks for speech recognition permission to transcribe your clips and dream voice notes. On Android, transcription uses a speech model built into the app and needs no extra permission. Transcription is always performed on your device. If on-device transcription is unavailable on your device, NightBlab tells you and does not send audio anywhere. Transcripts are a best guess and you can edit them.

Notifications

Notifications are optional. If you turn them on, NightBlab can show a single morning reminder that your Night Reel is ready. It never sends marketing notifications. You can turn this off at any time in Settings or in your phone's settings. On Android, a notification is also shown while a night is running (Android requires it for a microphone service), and you can set an optional bedtime reminder that you tap to start a night; NightBlab never starts listening on its own.

Purchases

NightBlab Pro purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store on iPhone, and by Google through Google Play on Android. We do not receive your payment details, name, Apple ID or Google account. Apple's or Google's own privacy policy applies to purchase processing.

Children

NightBlab does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it collects no information at all.

Not a medical device

NightBlab is an entertainment and journaling app. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or monitor any health condition. It makes no snoring or sleep apnea claims. Snoring appears only as one of the sounds the app can recognize. If you are worried about your sleep or breathing, please talk to a doctor.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
